Alternative Provision Curriculum 

The qualifications on offer provide learners with a challenging but unique opportunity to study in a sporting context, this will give them opportunities to both gain employment and support the communities in which they live.

 

Learners will do a minimum of 12 hours a week on the programme and will complete a level 1 vocational coaching qualification, plus several smaller qualifications and if requested by the school English and Maths Functional skills. This is a 2-year course in which learners will study and train.

Coaching qualification

This course focuses on the skills and competences required to be able to plan, deliver and review a series of linked and progressive sport and physical activity coaching sessions, working as part of a

coaching team. Coaching topics include (list not exhaustive):
 

• Rules and regulations

• Duty of care

• Roles and responsibilities of the coach

• Inclusive coaching practice

• Nutrition and hydration

• Coaching styles and participant development

• Safe coaching practice

Introduction to talent identification

The football talent identification course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the process of identifying and nurturing talent in football.

 

Throughout the course, students will gain insights into their roles and key responsibilities in talent identification.

FA qualification enabling learners to earn money at weekends and help the community grassroots football.

 

The 3 day first aid at work course

This course is designed for learners working in all environments that the learner may encounter in their working life.


This course ensures that learners are equipped to deal with any injuries or illnesses in the workplace that requires the attention of a First Aider. With the course covering topics such as CPR, and

medical conditions such as Diabetes and Asthma.

Mental Health First-Aider course

A mental health first-aider is needed when someone is struggling to cope with an ongoing mental health condition or when they are going through a mental health episode or crisis.


Their role is to spot signs of potential problems, assess possible risks to the person and others, listen without judgement, give assistance, or encourage the person to seek further help.

Disability Football Introduction

The course on supporting individuals within a team, regardless of their ability level, is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to create an inclusive and supportive environment where every team member can thrive. 

Maths Functional Skill (Option for schools if required)

Dependent on entry level of the student we offer a support function to help students with English and Math's Functional Skill Level 1 or 2.
